AT SCENE SHANG, we love working with creative collaborators to create new designs that bring a new appreciation for our rich culture and heritage.

In our latest Favourite Local Fabric Designers Collection, we’re collaborating with the talented designers from Binary Style, Minor Miracles and Onlewo to bring you, especially you— print lovers, a very exclusive collaboration that you’ll love.

In this post, read about our heart-to-heart talk with Dawn Bey, co-founder of Minor Miracles, in her beautiful home as she shares about what inspires her and her designs.

PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF/YOURSELVES.

Hi! I’m Dawn :) I am in love with prints and colour and so I started a print & textile label with my husband called Minor Miracles. I create vibrant coloured prints inspired by life, thoughts and art and fill wardrobes and homes with it. Together with my team, we design and make clothes, homewear, accessories & even activewear with our prints.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DO WHAT YOU DO?

Inspiration often comes from thoughts & reactions to issues. As I work through issues in my mind, I also work through concepts and visuals at the same time.

Bright, iridescent colours create a mesmerising accent piece.

PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE FEATURED PRINT IN THIS COLLABORATION.

This was inspired by a gradient print created by our dear friend TY Zheng for our wedding last year. We wanted a modern way to show colour in our wedding cards, placemats and show pieces and he came up with this gradient. It stuck since then and we’ve used it on our homewear!

Clean geometry with double woven cane insets create a contemporary classic in THE BOTANIST Cane Chair.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PIECE OF FURNITURE AT HOME? IF YOU DO, PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT IT.

It’s my bean bag I bought in Hong Kong while I was studying there. The skin is a woven patched fabric and I carried this bean bag three steep slopes up back to my home. I feel like it represents me personally- functional and such nonsense too.

When I moved back from Hong Kong, it stayed packed in a box but now that I’ve moved to a house with my husband, it’s in our living room and it’s my chair for watching telly!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO AT HOME?

To lie on my bed and enjoy the peace and quiet.

HOME IS…?

Home is where my body feels at ease and I can truly relax and recharge.
