MAKE YOUR DREAM HAVEN A REALITY. We’re exploring our ‘Happy Place’ — when times are tough and you need a safe space, what do you imagine? Where do you go to heal and soothe?

Our signature White Pagoda scent was created based on an imaginary oasis from our founders. It is a beautiful, immersive haven that we go to when we need to find peace. Where is that place for you, where do you “go” to when White Pagoda is in the air?

We asked some of our favourite people to share their #MyWhitePagoda with us. Get a glimpse of their unique and beautiful Happy Place, you may find inspiration for your own White Pagoda. This is Tan Kheng Hua's; Actor, Producer, and above all — a loving Mother.



A “Happy Place” is a space that brings us a sense of peace. It can be anywhere in the world, or even out of this world. Where is your happy place?

My happy place is in bed, after a good day at work, or a fabulous time with someone I love a lot, wearing my sleepy “shirt” (actually a very old and comfy soft singlet), very clean and smelling like soap and talcum powder, under my snuggly comforter, the room is either naturally or artificially cold, I put my pillow over my eyes, I prop my right knee under another pillow, I pull the comforter over my mouth just under my nose (so I can breathe), I am sleeping and I close my eyes and start to doze.

When do you “visit” your happy place? How do you feel before the visit, what makes you seek it out?

Well, since my happy place is my bed, I visit it every day. But the feeling I have before I get there varies from day to day, of course. What I do every day, is to try my hardest to make sure that by the time I get to my happy place, I have done all I could to make the day as good as possible before I go there!

We all engage in different activities in our mind palace, what do you do in yours? Are you exploring the landscape, or maybe meditating in stillness?

My mind is my playground! It has a life of its own! A word, a place, a person, a song, a noise, a smell, a food, a memory…it can be anything that triggers my mind to go into all sorts of places. I love it most when I encounter something that inspires my mind to go to productive places that will enhance the current work I am doing. For example, I am currently preparing to start shoot for the CW’s Kung Fu here in Vancouver. My showrunners have already told me about my character’s season 2 arc. So as I go about my day, I am consciously and unconsciously collecting bits of information to help me play my role better! It is incredibly fun.

What does your happy place mean to you? Share with us how spending time in your personal oasis helps you. How do you feel when you’re in your happy place, and after?

A lot of times, when I am in my happy place (my bed) I am also on my phone Instagramming or looking at TikTok or texting friends, or on my computer watching the latest things I am watching. I love doing all this. I know articles say not to bring your devices to bed, but sorry, I do not subscribe to that and I sleep well despite the fact I am indulging in my digital devices just before I snooze! I think a lot of this is because the social media I indulge in is not angry nor grumpy.

Tell us a story about your happy place. It can be your first visit or a memorable experience.

When my daughter was just born, she’d sleep in a bassinet right next to me. And when she cried for milk in the middle of the night, I would just reach out, put her next to me and breast feed her. Definitely a happy place for the entire family. There is something about sleeping with your new born baby that is a truly magical experience. A super human experience.

We’ve found that sometimes our dream sanctuaries are not imaginary; they can be a place we have already been to, drawing from the emotions and memories. Where have you visited that helped you relax and recharge?

I love long drives. At the end of last year, I took a long drive from LA to Santa Fe. I found it incredibly relaxing and recharging. If you have a good travel partner in the car, it is a great way to have meaningful conversations. If you are alone, there’s something calming about endless roads, listening to podcasts, music or working things out silently in your mind while at the wheel.

Everyone needs to de-stress from time to time. With your busy schedule, how do you recreate your happy place at home to unwind and relax?

In the last 3 years, I have lived in LA, Vancouver and of course, Singapore. In all these three places, my happy place (my bed) is always recreated successfully! I always make sure I have a good mattress, sheets and comforters that not just feel good, but smell good and look good too! My bedroom may please me in terms of lighting, scent, aesthetics and feeling.

From London to Penang; different continents, same joy.



Please indulge our wanderlust! When the borders are open again, where would you go? Where is your oasis away from home?

Penang! I can’t wait to go to Penang again!



Finally, what advice would you give to someone who’s in search of their own dream haven?

Only if you know yourself will you find your haven. And if you really know yourself, chances are, you have already found your haven without even really looking for it.
