“The springtime pond is deep and wide
I must wait for the light boat to return
Slowly, Slowly the duckweed merges
The weeping willow sweeps them open again.”
Duckweed Pond, Wang Wei
In the TANG Tables, poetic nature of ponds (池塘 chi tang), and a majestic urbanscape merge and co-exist on our small island of Singapore. The slow tranquility that inspired Tang master poets centuries before to weave words, is a delicate contrast to the fast moving grandeur of our concrete jungle. Yet, their elements of beauty have inspired us today to weave our own poetry in the form of furniture.
